Manila is at a great environmental risk as it is in the top ten cities that are at high risk for natural hazards. Manila is a city that has high exposure places and large commercial interests and physicals assets. In Manila, there are a lot of wet seasons from June to November and then a dry season which is December to May. There is a lot of flooding that occurs are also a lot of during the months of July, August and September. In 2009, there was a huge typhoon that struck the metro area, causing lots of damage and deaths in the shantytowns and slums. This was caused by the result of poor planning in the prevention of floodwaters that were flowing into the sea. Manila has struggled with the huge problem of natural disaster and is trying to make a community with green, safe, inclusive and accessible public places.
